Dr. Gemma Handelsman is an experienced Chartered Educational Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, based in North West London.

 

Gemma has an undergraduate psychology degree from the University of Cambridge and a Doctorate in Child, Community, and Educational Psychology from The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

 

She has over 12 years of experience as an Educational Psychologist and set up Handelsman Psychology over two years ago to allow herself more flexible working with her young family. Gemma previously worked as a Senior Educational Psychologist for a large local authority and as the Educational Psychologist within a therapy team at a primary special school, supporting children with social communication difficulties and autism.

 

Gemma provides Educational Psychology assessments and advice to support a child or young person’s learning, well-being, and behaviour. She works with children and young people aged 3-18 years old who attend mainstream or specialist schools or nurseries, working collaboratively with their families and school staff to ensure the best outcomes.

 

Gemma offers direct work to nurseries and schools, providing consultations, training and supervision to school staff, enabling change at an organisational level.

 

Gemma has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and young people. She is trained to use the ADOS-2 assessment and occasionally works as an associate for a private clinic offering multi-disciplinary autism assessments.

Gemma is a mother of three young children and a co-opted Governor at a local primary school.
